Considering In-Home Care Solutions: 5 Common Questions

If you’re considering in-home care for yourself or a loved one, becoming comfortable with the idea of in-home care can take some time. At Compassionate Assistance, we are here to serve you and your family when you need us most. We understand that you have lots of questions, and we are here to answer them.

What Are Signs That In-Home Care Is Needed?

Recognizing the need for in-home assistance can be difficult and sometimes, stressful. Everyone is different. However, there are some common signs that you or a loved one may need assistance.

These may include:

  • Having less energy than normal
  • Having trouble walking, dressing, eating or bathing
  • Needing medical attention
  • Feeling lonely, forgetful, confused or lost
  • Taking less interest in things previously enjoyed

Realizing that care is necessary is an important first step in evaluating what needs you or your loved one has.

What Services Are Provided During In-Home Care?

Our mission at Compassionate Assistance is to enable individuals to live independently and with dignity in their own home. We are here to support that goal through helping with basic activities of daily living as well as more advanced care.

We can help with day-to-day activities such as meal preparation, personal grooming, medication management, transportation, light housekeeping and pet care as well as more specialized needs like post-rehab care, Alzheimer’s care, and Parkinson’s care.

One of the most important services that we offer is companionship. One of the main causes for depression in seniors is due to isolation and a lack of socialization in their daily life. For many aging people, having someone just to talk to is an important part of their care. We take pride in becoming close companions with our clients and bringing happiness to their lives.

How Do You Find A Caregiver That’s A Good Fit?

Finding the right caregiver is an extremely important part of our in-home care plan.

While all of our caregivers are highly qualified, our team takes time to carefully match a caregiver to your needs based on expertise, personality, geographical location and schedule. You will have a chance to meet your caregiver before the first day to make sure they are a good fit. As time goes on, you can also provide ongoing feedback to ensure they continue to fit your care needs.

What Are In-Home Care Hours?

We are dedicated to providing the highest quality of personal care to families, and that includes being available around the clock. Whether your care needs are a few hours a week or 24-hours a day, our staff is available. We work with each family to create a plan that works for them. This includes caregivers that are available 24-7.

Are In-Home Caregivers Capable Of Handling Medical Issues?

Compassionate Assistance is a non-medical home care provider. However, all of our caregivers are trained on chronic disease management as well as required to complete 20 CEUs (Continuing Education Units) per year. We feel it is important for our caregivers to have the knowledge of common diseases and disorders so that they can identify the symptoms in the home before an accident happens. While we are not a medical provider, we can provide non-technical support and care for those who are chronically ill, disabled, or transitioning from hospital to home.

We are dedicated to making sure that all of your care needs are taken care of. Our local team of Client Care Managers are on call 24/7 to work with you to design a customized plan of care that is right for you.
